PRUTHA JAIN
VISUAL PRACTITIONER

Born 1997, Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, I am a visual artist trained in Modern and Contemporary art with a focus segment on South Asia, art in the public domain and social practices. My practice both as a maker and a researcher/writer is rooted in analysis of histories and theoretical understandings of art and objects of social and cultural significance. Artistic engagements and interventions with the self-have made me aware about the transformations that art can bring about in culture and society at large. Art making is an act embedded in research and knowledge production. As a part of my academic training, I have developed a sharp eye for the aesthetics and site specificity of making and have been simultaneously pushing myself towards critical thinking and analysis as part of the research I undertake as the processual necessity. I have completed my BFA from Surat School of Fine arts, Veer Narmad South Gujarat University in 2019 and MFA from Shiv Nadar University in 2021.
